Hours of Operation

Tuesday – Friday, 9:30 am – 1:30 pm
Sundays, 1-5 pm

Matheson House Tours – The Matheson House is open by appointment. Please call (352) 378-2280 to make arrangements for a group or individual tour. A donation of $5.00/person is suggested.


Admission

General admission to the Museum is free, though there may be a small fee for group tours or special events.


Parking

Museum visitors may park in the lot adjacent to the Museum, but please use only the spaces on the west side of the lot during working hours. The east side spaces are reserved for the attorneys’ office next door. After 6 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends, the entire lot may be used. Overflow parking is at the Kirby-Smith school board building, across University Avenue.


Handicapped Access

The Museum and Matheson House are wheelchair-accessible. It is advisable to call ahead if you have special access needs.


Directions

From I-75, take the Newberry Road exit east toward Gainesville and the University of Florida. Newberry Road will become University Avenue after crossing 34th St. Continue east on University Avenue; the Museum is located on the south side of East University Avenue in downtown Gainesville.
From 441 (13th Street), travel to the intersection of 13th Street and University Avenue. East on University 1.2 miles to the Museum, on the south side of University.
From SR 24 (Waldo Road), at the intersection of Waldo Road and University Ave., travel west on University to the Museum, less than 1 mile.
