Volunteer Opportunities at the Museum The Museum has a special, dedicated core of volunteers that work in every part of the Museum. Take a look below, and let us know if you are interested in joining our team! The number of hours you work per week or month is flexible, and they are tax deductible. E-mail info@mathesonmuseum.org for more information, or call (352) 378-2280. Educational Programs Assistant. Develop and conduct tours for school groups and others. Library Assistant. Re-shelve books, maintain files, assist researchers. Oral History Interviewer. Interview selected county residents for our oral history collection. Receptionist. Greet visitors; handle gift shop sales, light clerical. Registrars Assistant. Work with the Museums registrar on our archival and object collections. Matheson House Docent. Give tours of the Matheson House, Gainesville's second-oldest residence. Bookkeeper. Prepare checks and deposits, create monthly reports. Newsletter Assistant. Write stories, prepare layout, procure advertisements, organize printing of the Museum's newsletter. Public Relations Assistant. Prepare press releases, work with local media to publicize our events.
